Gyelaine Murray

Gyelaine has over 20 years of experience within the hearing care sector. She registered as a Hearing Aid Dispenser in September 2004, initially with the HAC and more recently with the HCPC. She has worked in the private sector for national chains and independent practices, providing private and AQP services (NHS hearing aids within a private setting), within clinic settings and also domiciliary. She worked on Public Private Partnership (PPP) with Pennine Acute Trust, changing previous NHS analogue hearing aid users to digital hearing aids during 2004/05. She has seen many changes in the technology available over this time. The most enjoyable part of the role for Gyelaine is seeing the impact improving a person’s hearing has on their lives and those close to them, the moment their faces “light up” because they are hearing better and not having to concentrate as hard, or the look of relief that she can improve their hearing and improve their quality of life. Many people do not appreciate how much they are missing until they get hearing aids, often saying they wish they had done it sooner. Also, with the improvements in technology, existing hearing aid users are often surprised at the improvement they get in their hearing when they upgrade to newer technology. Outside of work, Gyelaine enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching films, doing puzzles, and has started running again, very slow at the minute but hoping to get faster.
